Instagroan is a wordplay app for iOS and Android made by Inginity Studio (“Inginity”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what the Instagroan app collects, why, who processes it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. Our website privacy policy covers inginity.studio itself.
- You can use Instagroan without creating an account. We do not sell your personal information.
- Analytics and crash reports are off unless you turn them on.
- The free plan shows ads from Google. Subscribers see no ads.
- Text you give the pun generator is sent to our AI provider to write your pun. It is not stored by us and not used to train AI models.
- You can delete everything at any time: Settings → Privacy → Delete account & data, or without the app.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Account information
- Guest ID. The first time you open Instagroan we create an anonymous guest account with a random user ID (through Firebase Authentication). It contains no name or email address. We use it to apply the free plan's daily allowance, connect purchases to you, and keep the service secure.
- Optional account. If you create an account we collect your email address and display name. Your password is handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see it. An account keeps your saved groans, memes and subscription on every device.
1.2 Content you create
- Topics, style settings and text you submit to generate puns or rewrite copy (“Groanify My Copy”) are sent to our servers and to our AI provider to produce the result. We do not store this text on our servers.
- Groans and memes you save to your Library — the text, captions and meme image — are stored with your account.
- Photos you pick for a meme stay on your device unless you save the finished meme to your Library. Smart Topic analyzes photos entirely on your device; they are never uploaded for that feature.
- Reports. If you report a result as offensive or broken, we receive that result's text, the reason you chose, any comment you add, and your user ID, so we can review it and improve our filters.
1.3 Purchases
If you subscribe, we receive your subscription status and purchase history from Apple or Google through our subscription processor, RevenueCat. We never receive your payment card details.
1.4 Usage and diagnostics (only if you allow it)
If you turn on Share usage & crash reports (during onboarding or in Settings → Privacy), we collect how you use the app (screens viewed, features used, and reactions such as 👍, 😩 and 👎), an app-instance identifier, device model and operating system, approximate location derived from your IP address, and — on Android — your device's advertising ID, through Google Analytics for Firebase; and crash reports (stack traces, device state and an installation identifier) through Firebase Crashlytics. This is off by default and you can turn it off at any time.
1.5 Advertising (free plan only)
The free plan shows ads served by Google AdMob. Google may collect your device's advertising identifier (on iOS only if you allow tracking), your IP address and approximate location, ad interactions and diagnostic data, to show and measure ads and prevent fraud. Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and some US states) we ask for your choices first through Google's consent message; you can change them in Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy options. Subscribers do not see ads.
1.6 Notifications
If you turn on “Pun of the day”, Firebase Cloud Messaging uses a push token for your device to deliver it.
1.7 Security and abuse prevention
Firebase App Check (using Google Play Integrity or Apple App Attest) confirms that requests come from the genuine Instagroan app; it carries no personal information. Our servers keep a daily usage counter per user ID and routine server logs (user ID and request details, never the text you enter). Firebase Authentication processes IP addresses to protect accounts from abuse.
2. How we use information, and our legal bases
- To provide Instagroan — generating puns, saving your Library, syncing your account, running subscriptions (performance of our contract with you).
- To keep the service fair and secure — daily limits, fraud and abuse prevention, verifying the genuine app, server logs (our legitimate interests).
- To improve the app — analytics and crash reports (your consent, which you can withdraw).
- To show ads on the free plan — personalized ads where you consent; otherwise as permitted by law.
- To send “Pun of the day” — only if you turn it on (your consent).
- To meet legal obligations — such as tax and accounting records for purchases.
3. Who processes your information
We use these providers to run Instagroan. They process data on our behalf under their contractual terms, except Google AdMob, which also uses advertising data under its own policies.

Anthropic does not use this data to train its models by default and automatically deletes inputs and outputs within 30 days, except content flagged for violating its usage policies, which it may keep for up to 2 years.
4. Selling and sharing
We do not sell your personal information. On the free plan, Google AdMob's use of advertising identifiers for targeted ads may count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under some US state laws. You can opt out in Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy options (where shown), by not allowing tracking on iOS, through your Android device's ads settings, or by subscribing.

6. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account and data: Settings → Privacy → Delete account & data, or follow the steps on our account deletion page. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription — cancel it in the App Store or Google Play.
- Delete individual items: open your Library and delete them.
- Get a copy of your data: Settings → Privacy → Export my data.
- Analytics and crash reports: Settings → Privacy → Share usage & crash reports.
- Ads: Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy options (where shown), your device's tracking and ads settings, or subscribe to remove ads.
Depending on where you live — including under the EU and UK GDPR and California and other US state privacy laws — you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, to opt out of targeted advertising, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Email info@inginity.studio to exercise them; we respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access rules limit saved content to your own account, and subscription status is verified on our servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
8. International transfers
Instagroan is operated from the United States, and our providers process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on our providers' Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, their EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework certifications.
9. Children
Instagroan is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We will post updates on this page with a new effective date, and tell you in the app about material changes.
